Position Title: Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship (PhD or MD track) in Neuropsychology and Integrative Health at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System
Position Description: The Fellowship site is part of the VA Palo Alto War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) and is affiliated with Stanford University. The WRIISC interdisciplinary program aims to provide M.D.’s or Ph.D.’s with research training to become outstanding researchers in high-priority areas of healthcare. Research opportunities exist to examine the neurocognitive effects of integrative health therapies such as yoga and meditation in a variety of clinical populations (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease, PTSD, Lyme’s Disease, Gulf War Illness). Fellows have access to extensive clinical trial data archives to explore the effects of integrative health interventions on cognition. In collaboration with their mentor, Fellows will have the opportunity to analyze data, develop and implement their own research project, present their findings at meetings, and publish their work. Additionally, Fellows will participate in grant development/writing. The Fellow will receive training, supervision, and apply treatment in accordance with evidence-based practices. The Fellowship provides an opportunity for hands-on training in best clinical research practices, with the aim of transitioning to become an independent researcher who can design, initiate, and lead innovative studies. If the applicant meets requirements, an opportunity exists for postdoctoral status in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.
Fellowship Term: 2-3 years (dependent on progress) of postdoctoral stipend support with benefits.
Stipend and Benefits: The current PhD fellow stipend is $ $68,238 for the first year. VA offers individual/family health insurance plans for Fellows.
Eligibility: Candidates MUST be US citizens and hold an MD or a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline such as clinical or counseling psychology, psychology, cognitive neuroscience, physiological psychology, or similar fields of study.
