Clinical and Research Postdoctoral Fellowships in Neuropsychology, Cognitive Aging, and Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementias

We are pleased to announce an opening for one clinical and one research postdoctoral fellowship position. Position is based at the Banner Sun Health Research Institute (BSHRI) in Sun City, Arizona ( with potential collaboration with Banner Alzheimer’s Institute (BAI) in Phoenix, Arizona ( Anticipated start is between July and September 2021. This fellowship follows the scientist-practitioner model, with a goal of producing skilled clinical neuropsychologists with advanced training in aging research. Training is designed to meet the Houston Conference guidelines with 50% time dedicated to clinical care.

BSHRI is on the forefront of clinical and research efforts in the areas of healthy aging, Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, and Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. Direct clinical care activities include comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations of older adults referred for dementia and related disorders and movement disorders. Fellows receive clinical supervision with faculty neuropsychologists under the direction of Christine Belden, PsyD, Director of the Center for Excellence in Neuropsychological Assessment.

Clinical research opportunities are available through our Brain and Body Donation Program and the Center for Healthy Aging, both of which offer multimodal data from longitudinal cohorts. Additionally, we have neuropsychological, neuroimaging and biomarker data from international prevention programs ( Fellows spend approximately 50% of their time in research related activities. Fellows will be involved in project conceptualization, execution, analysis, and dissemination, as well as in existing research studies. Fellows complete one or more individual research projects under the mentorship of faculty, led by Alireza Atri, M.D., Ph.D. Research efforts culminate in presentation(s) at national/international conferences and completion of first-author publication(s) and/or submission of grant applications to support further research.
